Booth Library currently has adjusted services and access to resources due to the University’s response to the global COVID-19 pandemic. This is a fluid and constantly changing situation. Any updates to library hours, services, and resources will be added to this page.
Booth Library is open to EIU students, faculty and staff only from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday through Aug. 21. Regular fall-semester hours will begin on Sunday, Aug. 23: noon-midnight Sundays; 8 a.m.-midnight Mondays through Thursdays; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Fridays; and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays. All patrons are required to wear face masks and to follow proper social distancing guidelines. Access to the bookshelves is prohibited. Please speak to a staff member to obtain materials from the library’s shelves.
Please know that we are providing library access so that those patrons who need computer access and library materials can obtain them. For general safety, however, it is important to limit the number of patrons in our building at any time. For this reason, our building is limited to EIU students, faculty and staff only. Members of the general community are asked to call or email to request a pickup of needed materials. Thank you for your understanding!
If possible, please conduct library business online, by phone or email:

Electronic resources: All of Booth Library’s electronic resources, including the library catalog, more than 100 research databases, and our online reference resources, are accessible to off-campus users for online learning and research. Subscription resources will require an EIU NetID and password.
The safety of our patrons and staff is our top priority. Library staff routinely sanitizes public work spaces, and hand sanitizer is available throughout the building. Our computer labs have been adjusted to allow for social distancing, with only every other computer available for use. All library patrons are encouraged to follow social distancing guidelines and leave at least 6 feet of space between yourself and others, as recommended by the Centers of Disease Control. In accord with university guidelines, patrons are required to wear masks while in the building.
Booth librarians will provide research help by appointment, virtually through Email, chat and videoconferencing, and limited Face to Face help from 12:30 p.m. until the library closes Monday through Thursday.
Our librarians are here for you! If you need additional resources for distance learning or would like library resources and information added to your classes in D2L, contact the librarian who is responsible for your subject area. The list of librarians is available here. For more information, call 581-6072 during business hours.
