EIU Comic Con

Logo Contest Winner

The winner of the EIU Comic Con logo contest has been announced!
Kyle Ignalaga, a junior international student from the Kingdom of Bahrain, was the winner for his design incorporating a comic book theme. Kyle is a Computer Information Technology major, with a Digital Media minor.
“I grew up reading a lot of comics from Marvel, specifically the Spider-Man series, as well as some Japanese animated/Manga,” Kyle said. (Tom Holland is his favorite movie Spider-Man!)
Kyle said he experiments with drawing and graphic design, but he’s never entered a contest like this before.
“I draw, but then I try to replicate it on the computer in the most organic way possible,” he said. “But I’ve never done it for a convention. This is my first time designing for something like that.”
Kyle said it took him about an hour or two to create his winning design, but then he tweaked it for a while before submitting it for judging.
“When I heard about the contest, I immediately had a thought of what I wanted my logo to be. I didn’t want it to be too specific, so that they would know exactly what to expect at the convention,” he said. “I wanted them to see it, get a glimpse of what it is and then look forward to attending it.”
Kyle said after graduation, his dream job would be to work for a videogame design company in the graphic design department. “That, or professional soccer,” he said.
