Booth Library offers information, convenience with new mobile library

Booth Library is on the move this semester, bringing a sample of resources to the university community through its mobile library.

The mobile library will be available once a week from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the food court in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union. In order to accommodate more patrons, it will be open on alternating days, Monday through Thursday, each week. The last opportunity to visit the mobile library during the fall semester will be Dec. 15.

Bradley Tolppanen, head of circulation services at Booth Library, said the mobile library was added this year in order to reach out to students, faculty and staff who haven’t or can’t find the time to visit the library.

“We know how busy our students and staff members are, and some don’t have time to come to Booth Library regularly,” Tolppanen said. “Others may not be aware of all the library has to offer. We hope the mobile library will offer information and convenience to our patrons.”

Janice Derr, business librarian at Booth Library, said at the mobile library, patrons may browse through a variety of books to check out, get information on library resources, or ask general questions about the library.

“Check out a book to enjoy while having your lunch,” Derr said. “A friendly library staff member will be glad to help you.”
